In July 2024 the existing carpet at Honiton Bowls Club indoor Green was removed. This carpet had successfully served the club for 20 years. It was decided, by the club, that while the carpet was being replaced the concrete surface under the carpet would be further levelled and smoothed by applying a self-levelling screed over the whole area.

Our operatives at Screedmaster primed the existing concrete surface and a timber upstand was fitted to the outside edge of the rink. The edge timber included a timber fillet to give a fillet around the edge of the ditch to prevent stress to the carpet when it was stretched and tensioned. Reference levels were set up all over the rink at a spacing of about 1.5 meters and levelled using a laser level. (Approximately 350 levelling tripods were installed)

Gyvon Excelio screed was delivered to site. The screed was pumped into the indoor green and bonded to the existing concrete surface. This screed was spread and compacted  to the levels previously established. The finished screeded surface is extremely level and smooth providing an excellent base for the new carpet.

The screed was then left for a week to allow the surface to cure. After this time the surface was given a sanding to remove any minor discrepancies in the floor finish.

When the screed had fully cured, the new carpet was fitted.
